When you examine Jimenez"s work, however, their subject matter is totally and characteristically American. The bright (perhaps the neon inspired) colors, and the modern accoutrements reveal an European Surrealistic Sensibility. Examining, with awe, incomprehension or just plain humor of this strange culture of ours.
Jimenez's artwork is inspired by the infamous underground world of comics. At a young age his dream was to become a comic book artist, draft-man.
Jimenez's world, while certainly striking at first glance and strange, is not threatening. His characters, although somewhat bizarre, are seldom alone in the picture. They actually seem friendly and even pleasant.
